Sunday Solomon Udah

Sin causes trouble, pains and death for mankind, Jeremiah 14:4-14, 17-18. The high corruption of the politicians and those in authority of the country are now causing much trouble, pain, and death of many people in Nigeria.  The situation has resulted in the need of hard work and preaching to people for salvation in churches of Christ in Mbanabo Mission.

Instead of the fear of insecurities in some parts of the country, we depend on God’s strength and protection to go about preaching the way of salvation and working to uplift those who are backsliding because of the hardship of living in the country (Psalm 121:2, 7-8, Hebrews 15:5-6).

The following is the result of our work in the first quarter of the year 2023 including six baptisms recorded within three of our congregations:

  1. Two women and one man at the church of Christ at Oduma town, one woman and one young man at Church of Christ at the town, and one woman at Church of Christ at Effeche town; a total of six new souls baptized into the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ.
  2. Mission Building Project work now beginning at Amoli Town Church of Christ.  The building is 30ft long by 15ft wide. The work is now at the foundation level
  3. Four hundred cement blocks have been molded to add to the one we had before at Effeche Town Church of Christ.  We want to enlarge the Church building to 30ft long by 20ft wide as the Church membership has grown in number and the old building no longer contains them.
  4. Work is on-going on at the Preachers’ houses at Ihe Town.  The building is 80% complete.  I will send the picture of these buildings before the next work report
  5. With great joy in my heart, I report to you of the Grandson Church of Christ.  This is the second congregation where God blessed me to plant the seed of God’s Word in Gariki in Enugu Urban.  It is now established.  Another congregation of the Lord’s church is established at Akwuke Town near Gariki in Enugu has been established by the long evangelism work with the students of Bear Valley Bible School in Enugu. The congregation that began last year in February, 2022, now has twelve members.  Thank God I can support them to pay for their meeting building hall in the town.  I paid for the work rate for this year 2023; I also paid for the preacher’s house at the church meeting Hall at Amaoha town for this year.
  6. The Mission’s Benevolence Work: We were able to reach 30 members with financial support for some of the sick where we were blessed to help buy malaria drugs and helped some who do not have money for food.  This was because of the change of currency bills by the Federal Government with a lack of cash in circulation due to bad government policies. Chinaecherem Ndubuisi is a motherless and fatherless girl whom the father brought to the church at Amoli Town before he died.  The girl is doing her junior final exam this year and she has no money to register for the exam.  She also has no relations to help her and that is why I paid the exam registration for her.  I also promised to help her with the remaining part of the school fees because she is very much faithful in attending church worship and Bible classes. The attached picture is that of Chinecherem Ndubuisi.
  7. Community Bible Learning Centre: This is a free Bible learning Center and free basic computer training center for youth using World Bible School (WBS) Courses.  The ten lessons from WBS class helps the students know Basic Bible Lessons that will help them to understand how to become Christians; while the free Basic Computer Lesson enables them to work via their phone to further do their Bible lesson on the internet.  The two days in a week part-time school is aimed to help solve the problem of a lack of interest of young people to study the Bible and that of Christian youth’s lack of interest in Bible Training to work as Evangelists.  Every place of our work now has its particular problem.  For example, in Enugu State, young people do not have interest to do preaching work now.  We have a part-time, one day Bible school in Enugu Urban.  However, only the older, un-trained Preachers are attending the class. Bear Valley Bible School in the USA is helping us with study materials. Thank God, in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, we have young men from the Church who have an interest to study and preach in churches.  We have eighteen students. who by God’s Grace, will graduate this year. Brethren, please continue to pray for this work here as we are having many struggles now in Nigeria, but we are depending on God’s mercy and grace, your prayers, and support to work and move about here (Lamentation 3:20-29).

Michael Udam’s January 2023 Report

We thank God we made it to 2023 and to the glory of God, work started on the 2nd of January with the first quarter Leadership Conference for church leaders around Northern Cross River hosted by the Ukpagada church. Ninety-eight church leaders from 38 congregations participated and we resolved to put more emphasis on reviving the congregations around us and intensify our approach to evangelism using World Bible School (WBS), Gospelshare, and other available tools at our disposal. Leaders also resolved to work closely with each other to grow the church around Northern Cross River state.

As a way of strengthening fellowship within the congregation and also taking into consideration the special needs of various age groups in the church, I had to plan to have lunch with the youths, the adults, and the children. These meetings afforded me the opportunity of evaluating the progress we are making as a church in the area of bonding and inter-family relationships; especially since we are a rural community.

Honestly, I enjoyed these meetings. Even when each meeting cost me more than 100 USD to provide the food, I returned home very happy and fulfilled as I heard directly from those I led about how excited they are being in Christ and the fellowship we share in Him.

Also, within this month, Healing Hands International USA choose our congregation to pilot the planting of Plantain to fight food insecurity in Africa. The church provided a piece of land and bought suckers to activate the process and to the glory of God, the farm has been established.

Externally, within the month, a nearby congregation invited me to speak in their gospel meeting on the 21st and my topic was Church Growth Destroyers. The brethren were edified and to the glory of God, a few brethren were strengthened who were already feeling discouraged about the behaviors of some brethren that they looked up to.

Our WBS team was also involved in a three-day evangelism effort in Bebi, Obanliku, and three souls were won into the kingdom and top amongst them is a senior lecturer of the College of Education Obudu.

God has been faithful and I am glad that I am found useful in his vineyard.

That same day, the youths of Church of Christ, Ikot Akpabio released and launched their first album “De Voice of Grace Accapella” and many ministers and congregations came to support the programme.

The Nigerian Christian Bible College, Ukpom celebrated her 69th Founders Day and Matriculation Ceremonies on the 18th February 2023. I supervised the programme and it was very successful. 39 students matriculated into Ministerial Program (N.C.B.C Main Campus). 11 students matriculated in Diploma Programme (Itigidi Study Centre, Cross River State). 8 students matriculated in B.A (Ed) Religious Studies and 7 students into B.A Religious Studies. We are experiencing a very difficult time in Nigeria during this elections time. There is no cash in many banks and money are being sold to owners. Petrol and food stuffs are very costly. We need your prayers and help to survive. We believe that before the end of this month, March, life will normalise and cash will flow to everyone. Chad Wagner will wire money for the first quarter of 2023 to Nigeria very early this March as he plans to make some trips. Please send your money to him early enough to catch up with his time. Please contact Chad to know exactly the time.

Thank you very much for your prayers and support for this ministry. God bless you all.

This is the eleventh month of the year, I am so thankful to you my dear supporters for all your prayers and support for this year which has helped me to preach the gospel to the lost souls and continue to edify the body of Christ in Nigeria.

For the past two months, I have been involved in evangelism, laying foundation for new Church building, Gospel Chariot Open Air Preaching and W.B.S Seminars and contacts. God has really blessed our efforts with twenty-five baptisms at different places.

On 17th September 2022, One Hundred and Fifty (150) Church Leaders gathered at Church of Christ, Ikot Akpabio where I am preaching for Men Fellowship and discuss strategies for Church Growth and expansion of the kingdom of Christ.

On 25th September 2022, after a series of Bible Studies, I baptized Glory Emem John who was formerly an Apostolic member, she now worships faithfully at Church of Christ, Ikot Akpabio.

I took one month leave from Church of Christ, Ikot Akpabio in the month of October after serving there for ten years without a leave. This enabled me to visit younger congregations which I have planted and also to preach at my home congregation, Central Church of Christ, Ukpom Abak. On 9th October, I helped in laying foundation for Church of Christ, Ikot Edung Uruan new Church building.

In the afternoon of that same day, I spoke in a W.B.S Seminar in a young congregation at Ikot Oku Ikono, Uyo Flyover, which resulted in two baptisms.

14th – 16th October, I worked with N.C.B.C Staff and Students to weekend evangelism at Itighi Idi, Abi LGA, Cross River State, while there we visited seven small congregations preaching open air and house to house and God blessed our efforts with four baptisms.

On 17th October, I baptized Abasifiok Aniedi Usen, a W.B.S Student of Donna Goulding of Perry Church of Christ, Ohio.

On 23rd October, I preached at Central Church of Christ, Ukpom my home congregation. That same day in the afternoon, I spoke in a W.B.S Seminar at Church of Christ, Obio Itak, Ikono.

I participated in the Gospel Chariot Evangelism which took place from 9th – 30th October 2022, Abak and its environs which employed house to house evangelism and night open air preaching at twenty-one different locations and eight souls were baptized.

On 30th October 2022, I visited Church of Christ, Ibuonung Achat by the invitation of Dr. Fiokedu Okorie I preached there at his home congregation.

I am grateful to inform you that I requested for a borehole from the Healing Hands International for Church of Christ, Ikot Akpabio, and they have graciously provided one borehole for this congregation and the community it is about to be commissioned. After spending one month preaching for other congregations, on November 6, I resumed at Ikot Akpabio and was warmly received by the brethren.

Thanks and God bless.
