From the DIRECTOR’S DESK

Compliments of the season to you all. We give God the Father all glory and honor for His Mercy and Love to us all. Here are the reports of some of our activities from first week of May through the first week of July 2021.

BIRTH OF THE LORD’S CHURCH IN ARAMOKO – EKITI , EKITI STATE:

In obedience to the Master’s order in Matthew 28:19-20, some of the staff, students and our graduates (preaching in Ekiti State) evangelized Aramoko town from early morning of  May 3 till 9, 2021. They started the first church worship in Chief Eluku’s house, (Temidire Steet, Oke-Egbe Area of Aramoko town) with five converts, eleven students of BVBIN &  SWSE, Ibadan, one of the instructors named Bro. Emmanuel Godwin, a graduate of WNCC named Bro. Lawanson Akinola and a WBSFUW named Bro. Amos Olusegun.

We were lucky to get an uncompleted building for the sum of N200,000 in Temidire Steet, Oke-Egbe Area and the school was able to assist in the payment of N100,000 while the remaining balance of N100,000 will be paid Lord’s willing on August.

VOICE OF TRUTH INTERNATIONAL, VOLUME 109 SHARED:

Free distributions and posting of VOTI Volume 109 commenced on May 3 and as of June ending our records show that about 5,750 copies of the recent publication of VOTI has been distributed across the Republic of Nigeria.

Report reaching our office shows that the recent publication also assisted the Lord’s church in converting many souls into Christ’s body during May and June Seminars/Campaigns while many brethren were edified.

FOURTH SEMESTER CLASSES BEGIN ON MAY 24:

Classes for the last semester of this session commenced on May 24 and will end Lord’s willing on July 23, 2021. Then, followed by a month practical work, that is, Teaching Practice between July 24 and August 22, 2021. The one month Teaching Practice will cost us between $500 to $700 because most of the students will be working with young congregations across the country, Nigeria.

The instructors for the fourth Semester at the Ibadan campus are Bro. Isaac Olaniyan, Bro. Emmanuel Godwin, Bro.Makinde John, Bro. Guda Silas, Bro. Oladokun Samuel, Bro. Lawrence Dada, Bro. Andrew Adeolu and I (Bro. Makinde Ebens).

AJIA CHURCH AUDITORIUM:

Work is progressing as we put to use, the recently roofed church auditorium at Ajia town, Ibadan , Oyo State. We were able to construct four iron doors for the four entrances, fix window frames, three doors and windows burglars, flooring and plastering of one bedroom in the preacher’s quarter between May 18 and 29, 2021; including the fixing of WC toilet in the first week of June 2021. We opened the auditorium for the Lord’s worship on June 13, 2021 with twelve brethren.

BROTHER KEITH KASARJIAN’S VISIT TO NIGERIA:

The Director of BVBID Extension program, Bro. Keith Kasarjian visited our troublesome country, Nigeria in spite the insecurity in our country between May 16 through 24 and met with most of the BVBIN campuses in the country starting from Lagos. He ended his trip in Abia State.

We greatly appreciate his great commitment to serving the Lord and humanity. Our fervent prayer is that the Lord keep on blessing all the gospel ministers throughout the world  in Jesus Christ name, amen.

ONE MONTH VOCATIONAL TRAINING/BREAK AND JUNE WEEKEND EVANGELISM

May 2021 Vocational training/break of this session resulted in the conversion of thirteen souls and restoration of eighteen erring brethren while the Lord added two denominational pastors to His body in the month of June (1 at Butubutu village and 1 in Ajia). All our students and staff were actively involved in the weekend evangelism/campaigns in their different locations and gratitude unto the Lord blessing our joint efforts.

OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

In May 2021, with God on our side, coupled with the financial assistance rendered by the Austin Chapel Church of Christ, and Bro. Chad Wagner, we succeeded in planting the Lord’s Church in Aramoko town of Ekiti State. We also assisted in the payment of half of the funds for the purchase of an uncompleted building for the church meeting place at Temidire Steet, Oke-Egbe Area in Aramoko town.

Another accomplishment this quarter is the conversion of two denominational pastors in the month of June 2021 in Ibadan as the result of our continuous evangelization of Ajia town and Butubutu Village, Ibadan, Oyo State.

CHALLENGES:

  1. Even though, we have received contributions to the tune of N98, 000 so far from our Nigerian brethren and $700 from brethren in USA ($200 from Bro. Doug Wheeler and family and $500 from Bro.Steven Archraft and associate) , the School is still in need of over $500 for the successful hosting of her 19th Annual Bible Lectureship and Graduation ceremony scheduled to come up from August 25th-27th, 2021 at Butubutu Village, Ibadan.
  2. We are in need of at least the sum of N30, 000 ($75) monthly supports to assist one of our graduates who have shown interest in ministering in the just planted congregation in Aramoko town, Ekiti State.
  • The school is also in need of a Mini Gospel Chariot for evangelization of both Urban and Rural areas of the Western States of Nigeria. This will cost us between $6,500 to $7,000 for truck, durable chairs, speakers, 2.5kwa generator, lectern, construction of a stage and other necessary things.

Report of the meeting Bro Keith Kasarjian held with Directors of Bear Valley Bible Institute Lagos weekend schools, on Monday 17th may, 2021 at Ibi hotel Ikeja Lagos, Nigeria.

By Bro. Emmanuel Chukwuka Odo

INTRODUCTION:

Institutions grow because of innovations, which come because of new ideas, concepts and theories. Bear Valley Bible Institute is not an exemption. The need to grow the institution in the ever growing world have led diligent men like Brother Keith Kasarjian and the school faculty into research efforts which has resulted in new approaches intended to yield better results.

PURPOSE OF THE MEETING

The main purpose of the meeting was to introduce the newly designed curriculum/syllabi to the directors of the Lagos weekend schools and give them the necessary information and training on how to use/implement the syllabi for efficiency and effectiveness in the teaching/learning processes of the schools.

AIMS/OBJECTIVES

The aim of the meeting was to train the directors who would in turn train the instructors on the way to use the newly designed teaching outlines.

THE TRAINING

The training started at about 3:40pm with an introductory speech made by Brother Keith, where he stated that Bear Valley Bible Institute was in the process of standardization. According to him, the focus was to bring uniformity in the instructional outcome of the school wherever it exists in the world; a situation where the content of instructions, as well as the methodology would be the same everywhere with the intention of producing the same result. He presented the training on a video; using the video of how course 314 (God-head) could be taught as a model to explain how the rest of the forty-six (46) courses could be taught.

At the end of the video presentation, the participants asked questions which Brother Keith answered. He then presented to the participants, free soft copies of the courses’ outlines and instructional procedures with assessment and grading methods for further learning and training. A soft copy of E-Library was also presented to the Directors.

SUMMARY

Bro Keith made it categorically clear that what he had presented to us (the directors) was work-in-progress. According to him, work was still on-going in the development/upgrading of the courses’ materials as well as the school website. He requested our prayers for the success of the projects.

SOUTHWEST SCHOOL OF EVANGELISM, KIDDIES ACADEMY

Report by Bro. Oke Nwosu Jonathan

We give all glory, honor and adoration to God Almighty for his guidance, protection and provision for the SOUTH WEST KIDDIES ACADEMY, BUTUBUTU VILLAGE, IBADAN

Students: At present, the School has 73 pupils in the Nursery and Basic section and 10 Students in the Secondary section, making 88. Over forty of these pupils are children of less privileged people in the church and in the community. These children are counting on you once more.

Staff: With God’s help, coupled with the Supports from Gahanna-Jefferson Church of Christ via Zachary and Kim Van Tassel, Cherry Llord and family, the School hired nine (9) Standard and Qualified teachers, taking different subjects in various classes. We have five (5) full time and four (4) part-time teachers working with the School.

Classrooms: The School has nine (9) conducive classrooms for learning, a library with different editions of textbooks and literature books.

Development: Of recent, the school purchased two sets of computer, printer, UPS, standing fan, and photocopier for the help and improvement of the pupils and the school as a whole.

In addition, the school management changed the appearance of the school building by painting it with a new and beautiful color.

Plans: The School is looking forward to having a Science laboratory.

In addition, it is in our plan to change the School uniform to a better and well presentable one.

The ten Students sponsors by Zach Van Tassel and Gahanna-Jefferson congregation and Cherry Lloyd are expressing their gratitude for the generosity of their sponsors. They are saying: THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!! for your support and care for the less privileged children.

Appeal for partnership: We humbly request your support financially in the advancement of knowledge and assisting the less privileged.

We observed that most of our pupils in Southwest School of Evangelism Kiddies Academy sometimes attend school without breakfast. Some hardly feed due to financial incapabilities of parents and gaudiance of these young children. So,we came up with a plan of feeding them, at least twice in a week (Monday and Wednesday). This plan will commence Lord’s willing from next academic session which will begin in September 2021 and it will cost us, at least, N10,000 ($25) weekly.

We shall be so glad and greatly grateful if you could become the source of joy to these less privileged children by partnering with us in this nation building to the glory of God.

May God continue to bless all our supporters, parents, well-wishers and the school management and lift the school higher unto greater heights in Jesus Christ name, Amen.

Yours in His service……Oke Nwosu Salvation Jonathan.

MJA’s Report of Work

REPORT OF WORK – February 2021

Dear Brethren,

Grace and peace of God be with you all in Jesus Name.  Amen.

As I have said in my Report of work in January 2021 that “This year begins with a big focus for Evangelism”.  That statement was made because of what is going on globally.

.  People are trying to turn Spiritual Worship into Idol Worship.  Political Leaders may turn away minds of people        to do what God says people should not do.  E.G. Legalizing Homosexuality.

It is a big excellence to us to be very very effective in Evangelism work now.

Here are what were done in February 2021.

.  At Church of Christ Atai Otoro, Sunday Solomon reported one Baptism.

.  Anameti reported 1 baptism.

.  M. B. Archibong reported 9 baptisms.

.  There was 7 baptisms in Uyo Prison Yard.

.  We had Youth Seminar at Abak City Church of Christ on February 7, 2021.

.  There was Youth/WBS Seminar at Edem Idim Manta.

.  Women Gospel Meeting took place at Nigerian Christian Bible College (NCBC).

.  Men/Preachers/Leaders Seminar was held at Church of Christ No. 1 Ukpom on February 20, 2021.

.  WBS was held at Township Church of Christ Urua Inyang, Ika on February 21, 2021.

.  There was one baptism at Ikot Akpabio, Afaha Obong reported by Uyai Joshua.

.  There was Youth Seminar by Nigerian Christian Bible College (NCBC) and Nigerian Christian Secondary School      (NCSS) at NCBC Campus on February 28, 2021.

.  We should encourage our women in the work of Evangelism. “THEY ARE THE WORLD POPULATION     INCREASERS”.  Our Youth as “THE POWERS AND ACTORS OF OUR EVANGELISM”.  And our
    children for “A BRIGHTER FUTURE”.

Dear Brethren, thank you for all the materials sent to us for Evangelism.  May I assure you that your labour, time, energy and financial support sent to us for the Evangelism cannot and will not be in vain.

May God continue to empower and bless you all in your good work.  Please keep praying for us.

January Update from Sekeme Ekaiko

Dear brethren, family and friends,

For all of us who were looking forward to the new year after a challenging 2020, it seems that so far 2021 is just building on tips of what happened last year. Brethren, things may settle down eventually, but for now I suppose we just need to take it one day at a time.

I hope all of you are doing well and staying safe as the number of people infected by the virus continue to rise. Akwa ibom State recently lost three prominent personalities including a former Governor to death following COVID-19 complications! We continue to pray and rely only on God for the final solutions to great health malady.

It is very sunny here with much dust making many to suffer from cough and catarrh. Everyone here is busy preparing for farm work for the season. In most areas, bush clearing have started and I and Nse will not be left out.

Schools resumed on Monday February 1 for the second term of 2020/21 academic session. My children  have gone back to their different schools. Kufremfon will write his final West African Senior School Examination by May/June this year.

Our work for Christ in January 2021 was very successful and we really thank you brethren for being a part through prayers, financial supports, and provisions of Bible study materials to enable us do our work effectively.

On Sunday January 17, two student preachers from the Nigerian Christian Institute (NCI), Uyo visited our congregation at UTU Ikot Ekpo. The two students were: Brother Paul Bassey and Sister Ekaette Ukana. Brother Paul Bassey taught the adult class on the topic, ” Why do Bad things happen to good People? ” using Job as a case study for his lesson. Brother Paul does not understand nor speak our dialect fluently, so he used English language to teach while I interpreted for him. Sister Ekaette taught the children’s class while I delivered the sermon on the topic, ” Some things that are more Valuable than Gold”. Our hearts were filled with joy as we had another family placing their membership with us and another man, Okon Sampson (leaving near our church building) worshipped with us from that day till today and also attending all our weekly activities. We are doing our best to help him obey the gospel but he continue asking why he should be baptized twice after having been baptized by a Reverend pastor in a denomination. I have had deep bible discussions with him and his family and pray he and his family will take the decision to obey the gospel. Please pray for our efforts in this community. There are over nine denominations and prayer houses surrounding us here with contradictory teachings but we thank God that Covid-19 has made so many here to reinvestigate their faith!

Similarly, I visited the church at Afaha Ikot Ebak in Essien Udim for the first time this year with my son Dopse Lance on January 31. It was uplifting to see the growth of that congregation within it few years of existence. The people in the area are very receptive compared to that of UTU Ikot Ekpo. I preached on, ” Reaping the results of Bad choices” using Genesis 21:8-21. It was wonderful to meet with my brother and coworker, Apollos Adolf who initiated the efforts in establishing the church in this area. It was also Wonderful to meet the family of brother Emmanuel Idio whom we baptized recently with his wife and two children. They are very happy to be in the body of Christ! I have provided several bible study books that will help him, his wife Margaret, and two children Enyiekere and Maria grow their faiths! Please do not forget this new and young family. Brother Abasiakan Ekpetor is helping with the work there and has done a wonderful work for our Lord!  It may interest you to know that I taught Abasiakan when he was a student of the defunct Christian Vocational School that I established in Ika in 1997. Christian schools can create wonderful impacts in the lives of its students that’s while I continue to advocate for the establishment of one in Etim Ekpo area! I thank many of you that have already indicated interest and prayed for this proposed Christian school. Continue to

Pray about  this dream and if possible support it!

The campus church of Christ at Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic in Ebonyi State will be raising funds to buy a land for a permanent worship Hall on Saturday January 20. I am billed to speak on, ” Gathering Stones for the Mansion”. The theme is, ” Laying the foundation “. Recalled that I helped in establishing this congregation with the helps of brother Reuben Egwu, Dickson Emmanuel and supports from the churches of Christ at Afikpo and Ibio Nnung Achat. It is amazing the wonderful way this church is growing and the influence it has had on many around that community. God willing, I will leave for Ebonyi State on the 17th to return on the 22nd February. It will afford me the opportunity to work with the campus brethren for at least two days, visit Afikpo correctional Center and possibly visit some of my converts and those discharged from prisons after serving their various jail terms. As always, pray for a safe and successful trip!

Last two weeks, our coworkers embarked on follow-up works on many of our students after the pandemic and it turned successful even though many of our students in Ukanafun area have relocated. We pray that those that we met will obey the gospel as they continue to study God’s words.

An Automobile mechanic finally assessed our 2000 Toyota Sienna Van and after removing the floor rug carpets, we saw the level of rust on the chassis. Moreover, he discovered the suspension is damaged, radiator leaking, malfunctioning of the sensors, and alternator failure. You can see the picture. There is a great need for another Van for our work. Join us to pray that there will be funds to acquire another Van!

Before I close, I want to thank many of you that have made all that we’ve achieved possible. Without your supports and prayers, many of our achievements will be impossible. Thanks for being a part of this great work!

Continue to pray for us as we do for all of you! Indeed the fields are all white, but the laborers and resources are limited. Would you want to help? Please do if God has bless you to do this.

May God bless and keep all of you safe in His everlasting arms! Amen.

Dear Brethren,

Please do not be offended.  I want to remind you of the Financial Appeal that I made last month.

They were:

Financial assistance to complete the LAB SCIENCE BUILDING in African Christian Secondary School (ACSS) for Government Approval of Examination Center.

The Second Appeal was for assistance in Transportation in our Evangelism work.

We have enrolled many people in WBS Lessons and distributed a lot of Tracts to people.  The work is ongoing.  Pray for us.
