From the DIRECTOR’S DESK

Compliments of the season to you all. We give God the Father all glory and honor for His Mercy and Love to us all. Here are the reports of some of our activities from first week of May through the first week of July 2021.

BIRTH OF THE LORD’S CHURCH IN ARAMOKO – EKITI , EKITI STATE:

In obedience to the Master’s order in Matthew 28:19-20, some of the staff, students and our graduates (preaching in Ekiti State) evangelized Aramoko town from early morning of  May 3 till 9, 2021. They started the first church worship in Chief Eluku’s house, (Temidire Steet, Oke-Egbe Area of Aramoko town) with five converts, eleven students of BVBIN &  SWSE, Ibadan, one of the instructors named Bro. Emmanuel Godwin, a graduate of WNCC named Bro. Lawanson Akinola and a WBSFUW named Bro. Amos Olusegun.

We were lucky to get an uncompleted building for the sum of N200,000 in Temidire Steet, Oke-Egbe Area and the school was able to assist in the payment of N100,000 while the remaining balance of N100,000 will be paid Lord’s willing on August.

VOICE OF TRUTH INTERNATIONAL, VOLUME 109 SHARED:

Free distributions and posting of VOTI Volume 109 commenced on May 3 and as of June ending our records show that about 5,750 copies of the recent publication of VOTI has been distributed across the Republic of Nigeria.

Report reaching our office shows that the recent publication also assisted the Lord’s church in converting many souls into Christ’s body during May and June Seminars/Campaigns while many brethren were edified.

FOURTH SEMESTER CLASSES BEGIN ON MAY 24:

Classes for the last semester of this session commenced on May 24 and will end Lord’s willing on July 23, 2021. Then, followed by a month practical work, that is, Teaching Practice between July 24 and August 22, 2021. The one month Teaching Practice will cost us between $500 to $700 because most of the students will be working with young congregations across the country, Nigeria.

The instructors for the fourth Semester at the Ibadan campus are Bro. Isaac Olaniyan, Bro. Emmanuel Godwin, Bro.Makinde John, Bro. Guda Silas, Bro. Oladokun Samuel, Bro. Lawrence Dada, Bro. Andrew Adeolu and I (Bro. Makinde Ebens).

AJIA CHURCH AUDITORIUM:

Work is progressing as we put to use, the recently roofed church auditorium at Ajia town, Ibadan , Oyo State. We were able to construct four iron doors for the four entrances, fix window frames, three doors and windows burglars, flooring and plastering of one bedroom in the preacher’s quarter between May 18 and 29, 2021; including the fixing of WC toilet in the first week of June 2021. We opened the auditorium for the Lord’s worship on June 13, 2021 with twelve brethren.

BROTHER KEITH KASARJIAN’S VISIT TO NIGERIA:

The Director of BVBID Extension program, Bro. Keith Kasarjian visited our troublesome country, Nigeria in spite the insecurity in our country between May 16 through 24 and met with most of the BVBIN campuses in the country starting from Lagos. He ended his trip in Abia State.

We greatly appreciate his great commitment to serving the Lord and humanity. Our fervent prayer is that the Lord keep on blessing all the gospel ministers throughout the world  in Jesus Christ name, amen.

ONE MONTH VOCATIONAL TRAINING/BREAK AND JUNE WEEKEND EVANGELISM

May 2021 Vocational training/break of this session resulted in the conversion of thirteen souls and restoration of eighteen erring brethren while the Lord added two denominational pastors to His body in the month of June (1 at Butubutu village and 1 in Ajia). All our students and staff were actively involved in the weekend evangelism/campaigns in their different locations and gratitude unto the Lord blessing our joint efforts.

OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

In May 2021, with God on our side, coupled with the financial assistance rendered by the Austin Chapel Church of Christ, and Bro. Chad Wagner, we succeeded in planting the Lord’s Church in Aramoko town of Ekiti State. We also assisted in the payment of half of the funds for the purchase of an uncompleted building for the church meeting place at Temidire Steet, Oke-Egbe Area in Aramoko town.

Another accomplishment this quarter is the conversion of two denominational pastors in the month of June 2021 in Ibadan as the result of our continuous evangelization of Ajia town and Butubutu Village, Ibadan, Oyo State.

CHALLENGES:

  1. Even though, we have received contributions to the tune of N98, 000 so far from our Nigerian brethren and $700 from brethren in USA ($200 from Bro. Doug Wheeler and family and $500 from Bro.Steven Archraft and associate) , the School is still in need of over $500 for the successful hosting of her 19th Annual Bible Lectureship and Graduation ceremony scheduled to come up from August 25th-27th, 2021 at Butubutu Village, Ibadan.
  2. We are in need of at least the sum of N30, 000 ($75) monthly supports to assist one of our graduates who have shown interest in ministering in the just planted congregation in Aramoko town, Ekiti State.
  • The school is also in need of a Mini Gospel Chariot for evangelization of both Urban and Rural areas of the Western States of Nigeria. This will cost us between $6,500 to $7,000 for truck, durable chairs, speakers, 2.5kwa generator, lectern, construction of a stage and other necessary things.

Report of the meeting Bro Keith Kasarjian held with Directors of Bear Valley Bible Institute Lagos weekend schools, on Monday 17th may, 2021 at Ibi hotel Ikeja Lagos, Nigeria.

By Bro. Emmanuel Chukwuka Odo

INTRODUCTION:

Institutions grow because of innovations, which come because of new ideas, concepts and theories. Bear Valley Bible Institute is not an exemption. The need to grow the institution in the ever growing world have led diligent men like Brother Keith Kasarjian and the school faculty into research efforts which has resulted in new approaches intended to yield better results.

PURPOSE OF THE MEETING

The main purpose of the meeting was to introduce the newly designed curriculum/syllabi to the directors of the Lagos weekend schools and give them the necessary information and training on how to use/implement the syllabi for efficiency and effectiveness in the teaching/learning processes of the schools.

AIMS/OBJECTIVES

The aim of the meeting was to train the directors who would in turn train the instructors on the way to use the newly designed teaching outlines.

THE TRAINING

The training started at about 3:40pm with an introductory speech made by Brother Keith, where he stated that Bear Valley Bible Institute was in the process of standardization. According to him, the focus was to bring uniformity in the instructional outcome of the school wherever it exists in the world; a situation where the content of instructions, as well as the methodology would be the same everywhere with the intention of producing the same result. He presented the training on a video; using the video of how course 314 (God-head) could be taught as a model to explain how the rest of the forty-six (46) courses could be taught.

At the end of the video presentation, the participants asked questions which Brother Keith answered. He then presented to the participants, free soft copies of the courses’ outlines and instructional procedures with assessment and grading methods for further learning and training. A soft copy of E-Library was also presented to the Directors.

SUMMARY

Bro Keith made it categorically clear that what he had presented to us (the directors) was work-in-progress. According to him, work was still on-going in the development/upgrading of the courses’ materials as well as the school website. He requested our prayers for the success of the projects.

SOUTHWEST SCHOOL OF EVANGELISM, KIDDIES ACADEMY

Report by Bro. Oke Nwosu Jonathan

We give all glory, honor and adoration to God Almighty for his guidance, protection and provision for the SOUTH WEST KIDDIES ACADEMY, BUTUBUTU VILLAGE, IBADAN

Students: At present, the School has 73 pupils in the Nursery and Basic section and 10 Students in the Secondary section, making 88. Over forty of these pupils are children of less privileged people in the church and in the community. These children are counting on you once more.

Staff: With God’s help, coupled with the Supports from Gahanna-Jefferson Church of Christ via Zachary and Kim Van Tassel, Cherry Llord and family, the School hired nine (9) Standard and Qualified teachers, taking different subjects in various classes. We have five (5) full time and four (4) part-time teachers working with the School.

Classrooms: The School has nine (9) conducive classrooms for learning, a library with different editions of textbooks and literature books.

Development: Of recent, the school purchased two sets of computer, printer, UPS, standing fan, and photocopier for the help and improvement of the pupils and the school as a whole.

In addition, the school management changed the appearance of the school building by painting it with a new and beautiful color.

Plans: The School is looking forward to having a Science laboratory.

In addition, it is in our plan to change the School uniform to a better and well presentable one.

The ten Students sponsors by Zach Van Tassel and Gahanna-Jefferson congregation and Cherry Lloyd are expressing their gratitude for the generosity of their sponsors. They are saying: THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!! for your support and care for the less privileged children.

Appeal for partnership: We humbly request your support financially in the advancement of knowledge and assisting the less privileged.

We observed that most of our pupils in Southwest School of Evangelism Kiddies Academy sometimes attend school without breakfast. Some hardly feed due to financial incapabilities of parents and gaudiance of these young children. So,we came up with a plan of feeding them, at least twice in a week (Monday and Wednesday). This plan will commence Lord’s willing from next academic session which will begin in September 2021 and it will cost us, at least, N10,000 ($25) weekly.

We shall be so glad and greatly grateful if you could become the source of joy to these less privileged children by partnering with us in this nation building to the glory of God.

May God continue to bless all our supporters, parents, well-wishers and the school management and lift the school higher unto greater heights in Jesus Christ name, Amen.

Yours in His service……Oke Nwosu Salvation Jonathan.
